Puente is open to ALL

Puente accepts students from all backgrounds regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, immigration status, socio-economic status, etc.

We do, however, have eligibility requirements:

  • Your goal is to transfer to a university (pursue a Bachelor's degree)
  • You must be able to enroll in required Puente courses
    • FALL (Phase 1):
      • ENGL C1000
      • HD 101
      • STAT C1000 & 1000S (NOTE: STEM students may not be required to take this with Puente. Your puente counselors will review requirements based on your major and transfer university)
    • SPRING (Phase 2):
      • ENGL C1001
      • Workshops
  • You commit to attending (and engaging) required Puente events

Joining Puente is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Complete and submit the Interest Form
  2. Attend an information session
    1. All information sessions will be held in La Plaza/Dreamer’s Center (T300-C) next to CSU Bakersfield/AV. You can view the campus map to find the specific location. We will provide detailed information about the program and make the commitment form available to you. When you commit, a Puente counselor will meet with you individually to briefly discuss your goals and coursework. We can accommodate up to 30 students who are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Puente is open to ALL eligible students regardless of race, creed, and background.
