Measure R: Process and Milestones

Timeline:

  • Summer 2002  -  Educational Master Plan Update completed.
  • Spring 2003  -  Facilities Master Plan Update completed.
  • Summer 2003  -  Initial project list and cost estimates developed for potential 2004 local bond measure from Facilities Master Plan.
  • October 2003  -  Proposed project list and cost estimates revised by administration.
  • October 2003  -  Information meetings conducted for all district staff. Anonymous poll results in 96% of district staff supporting proposed bond.
  • November 2003  -  Project list approved by Board of Trustees.
  • December 2003  -  Project list distributed to campus groups.
  • Spring 2004  -  Completed RFP/RFQ selection process for professional consultants.
  • June 2004  -   Five Year Construction Plan and FPP’s for Theater and Health & Sciences Building approved by Board of Trustees and submitted to state.
  • June 2004  -  Approved project list submitted to bond counsel.
  • August 2004  -  Bond measure text submitted for election.
  • November 2004  -  Measure R local bond APPROVED; 69% of voters approve bond.
  • Fall 2004  -  Construction project priorities and sequencing reviewed and approved by Board of Trustees and Administration.
  • January 2005  -  Theater Arts Facility project approved and funded by state. Administration approves start of project design.
  • June 2005  -  Five Year Construction Plan and FPP for Health & Sciences Building approved by Board of Trustees and submitted to state.
  • Summer 2005  -  Administration approves design start for following projects:
      • Campus Infrastructure; IT Infrastructure; Agriculture Labs & Greenhouses; Facilities/Warehouse Facility; ADA/Safety Upgrades; Campus Parking Expansion; Physical Education Fields; Stadium Renovation; Auto Body Facility; Central Plant Expansion
  • January 2006  -  Health & Sciences Building project approved and funded by state. Administration approves start of project design. (As of 2014, last state capital outlay project funded)
  • August 2006  -  North Campus Parking Lots completed. First Measure R project completed.
  • December 2008  -  IT Infrastructure project completed.
  • May 2009  -  Facilities Services & Warehouse project completed.
  • August 2009  -  Agriculture Labs & Greenhouses project completed.
  • August 2009  -  Physical Education Fields & Marauder Stadium completed.
  • August 2009  -  West Parking Lots (#1, #2, #3) completed.
  • February 2010  -  Auto Body Facility project completed.
  • August 2011  -  Theater Arts Facility project completed.
  • August 2011  -  Parking Lot #5 project completed.
  • August 2012  -  Health & Sciences Building project completed.
  • August 2012  -  South Campus Renovation project completed.
  • December 2013  -  Campus Infrastructure project completed.
  • March 2014  -  Measure R fund balance reconciled. Final project list approved for design and construction.
  • May 2014  -  Measure R fund balance adjusted by Accounting for 13-14 expenses. Programming and planning initiated for remaining projects.
