RN and LVN Grads Have Some of State’s Highest Pass Rates in License Exams
Dr. Casey Scudmore, Associate Dean of Health and Safety Sciences

Students who graduate from AVC’s Registered Nursing (RN) and Vocational Nursing (LVN) programs are passing their state licensing exams at much higher rates than the state average, according to recent results from the Board of Vocational Nursing and the Board of Registered Nursing. First-time candidates who took the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Exam received a 97 percent pass rate, while LVN graduates received a 100 percent pass rate, topping the state average of 85 percent, according to Dr. Casey Scudmore, Associate Dean of Health and Safety Sciences. These results were for students who took the exam between April 1 and June 30. “These pass rates are a testament to our amazing faculty and all of the hard work they put in educating our future nurses, and to the motivated and caring students who make us proud everyday,” Dr. Scudmore said.
