Congratulations!

You are about to graduate with your associate degree, bachelor's degree or certificate from Antelope Valley College. Please read this information carefully so you do not miss any important information. The virtual Commencement Ceremony will be held at 7:00pm on May 7, 2021 on the Antelope Valley College YouTube Channel.

Getting Ready for Commencement

Cap and Gown
Cap and Gown are available for purchase but not required. A black cap, gown and maroon/silver tassel will be sold as a complete set through the Marauder Bookstore website (www.marauderbookstore.com) for $27.95 plus tax. (Gold tassels designating honors will be sold separately for $4.95 plus tax. You must be on the Honors list at the bookstore to purchase a gold tassel.)
Rental cap and gown are available to students who are unable to purchase one.
Rentals available on a first come first served basis.

Class Rings
AVC rings are available for purchase at www.balfour.com.
 

Participating in Commencement

Who can participate in Commencement?
Students who graduated in Fall 2020 or are graduating in Spring 2021 or Summer 2021.

How can I participate in Commencement?
You must complete a 2021 Virtual Commencement Card to participate in commencement.

When can I complete my 2021 Virtual Commencement Card?
The 2021 Virtual Commencement Card will be available April 9, 2021 – April 27, 2021.
Late submission will not be accepted.

Where can I access the application for my 2021 Virtual Commencement Card?
Application Closed - Deadline April 27, 2021

How do I log-in?
Log-in using your AVC credentials and complete the 2021 Virtual Commencement Card.

What does the application ask?

  • Name, email and student ID will be pre-filled in your application
  • Pronunciation of your name
  • Phone number
  • Degree/certificate you are receiving from Antelope Valley College
  • Area of study in which you are graduating from (major)
  • Transfer plans in Fall 2021 (if any)
  • Commencement photo of you (if you would like to include one)
    • A current headshot either in graduation cap or commencement appropriate for a public YouTube presentation.
  • Would you like to receive a diploma cover and/or commencement program mailed to you?
  • Address to mail above item(s)

Can I update my Commencement Card after I submit?
No. Please make sure your Commencement Card is complete and correct before submission including a photo if you would like to include one. Changes will not be accepted after submission.

Where to Watch
The Commencement Ceremony will be presented on YouTube through the Antelope Valley College channel on May 7, 2021 at 7:00pm. Share with friends and family...everyone can watch!

Order of Graduates
Students will be presented in alphabetical order by last name starting with students receiving their Bachelor degrees followed by students receiving the following degrees in alphabetical order by last name: AA, AS, and certificates. Be sure and stay tuned for the finale of the presentation which will include well wishes from faculty and staff.
 

After Commencement

Alumni Association
Once you graduate, you will want to be part of this exciting group. The Alumni Association will enable you to stay connected, get news and information about your alma mater and your classmates. Alumni and Friends Website: www.avc.edu/alumni and Facebook.

Cap and Gown Donation
If you would like to donate your cap and gown to AVC and receive a tax benefit, you can do so by contacting commencement@avc.edu for information on how to donate.

Diplomas
Questions regarding diplomas or academic requirements for graduation need to be directed to the graduation office (graduation@avc.edu).
