AVCReads Hosts Two-Part Discussion Series on The Glass Castle
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

Antelope Valley College will host a two-part discussion series this spring centered on The Glass Castle, the memoir by Jeannette Walls, as part of the AVCReads program.

The series invites students, faculty, and staff to engage in thoughtful dialogue around the book’s themes, including homelessness, mental health and resilience, issues that reflect the lived experiences of many students and members of the Antelope Valley community.

The first event will feature a roundtable panel discussion with faculty and students, followed by audience participation. The second event will include a sectional viewing of the film adaptation and a guided compare-and-contrast discussion between the book and the movie.

AVCReads, whose mission is to promote the act of reading, views these events as an opportunity for the college community to grow intellectually, connect with one another and engage in meaningful conversations. Through shared reading and discussion, the program encourages critical thinking, empathy and deeper understanding across academic and lived experiences.

Both events are open to the AVC community. Participants are encouraged to have access to the book prior to attending.
