STEMposium

Welcome Message

The 3rd Annual Aerospace Valley STEMposium is taking place in Wednesday next week (November 5, 2014).

This is the marquee STEM related event for our region and it is a unique opportunity to get informed about the status of local STEM education. Our goals are: (1) to showcase the efforts undertaken by the education partners - AV College, Cerro Coso College, CSU Long Beach- AV Engineering Program, AVBOT and GAVEA- to improve STEM education and STEM graduate production in our area, and (2) to explore ways to further strengthen the collaboration among educational institutions, local government, local industry, and federal agencies.

This year, we are very excited to welcome Mike Melvill, the first commercial astronaut, who will deliver the keynote speech (https://www.scaled.com/portfolio/). We are also very proud to have Nathalie Gosset, Head of Business Development and Marketing at the Alfred Mann Institute at the University of Southern California, to give a fascinating talk on brain maturity in students and STEM education (http://www.nathaliegosset.org).
