FS Grounds maintains the landscaped grounds and athletic fields of the 125 acre AVC campus. The department also provides parking lot sweeping services for the campus. Maintenance of the campus grounds includes in-house landscape design for the renovation of campus grounds, irrigation repair and water conservation, athletic turf management, tree management, landscape pest management and routine maintenance of exterior waste receptacles, sidewalks, planters and lawns.

Department Responsibilities

• Provide in-house landscape design standards and maintain nursery stock.
• Provide water management and irrigation system maintenance.
• Clean exterior furnishings, fixtures and signage.
• Maintain 125 acres of landscape and hardscape. Areas are maintained for litter control, hardscape cleaning, turf management, shrub maintenance, landscape pest management and tree management.
• Install small to medium sized landscape projects and support campus events.

Department Facts

• 188,340 lbs. of green waste was recycled in the past year.
• 2,450 trees are on the AVC campus.
• 7 times as many trees are on the campus today than in 1994 (350).
• Grounds uses over 300 gallons of paint a year on the Athletic Fields.
• Eight different sports use the atletic fields year round.
• Grounds has four irrigation pumps, they run anywhere from 70psi to 150psi.
• Grounds has 29 Rainbird Maxicom controllers and our own weather station. 
• West Campus has five turf fields and three artificial fields.
• West Campus has hosted State Championships, SO Cal Finals, SO Cal Prelims, Super Regionals & Bowl games.
• Grounds has over 60 different sporting events a year.
