Credit for Prior Learning

Antelope Valley College (AVC) offers Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) to recognize students' knowledge and skills gained through work, military service, and other learning experiences outside the classroom. CPL helps students accelerate program completion, reduce educational costs, and expand equitable access to academic and workforce pathways.

Authorized assessments may include the evaluation of approved external standardized examinations, military service/training, the evaluation of industry-recognized credentials, student-created portfolios, and credit by examination.

Students should meet with a Counselor for specific information regarding CPL and the petition process. Details may be found in AVCCD AP 4235 CPL policy.
