Antelope Valley College's Equity & Student Achievement department will host a Juneteenth Freedom Day celebration on Tuesday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Library Plaza between Cedar Hall and the Library.
The event is open to AVC students, faculty, staff, and community members. Admission is free.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans on June 19, 1865. The celebration recognizes this historic milestone while honoring diversity, equity and the rich cultural heritage of the African American community.
Attendees can enjoy free food, fun games and live music during the campus celebration. Special performances and community activities are planned to create an engaging and welcoming experience for all.
