Antelope Valley College’s Anthropology Department invites the campus and wider community to a keynote presentation by Dr. Debi Bolter, anthropology professor at Modesto Junior College and honorary research associate at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
Dr. Bolter will share recent developments from the Cradle of Humankind in South Africa, where fossil discoveries continue to shape scientific understanding of human evolution. Her presentation will explore Australopithecus sediba and Homo naledi, two extinct relatives whose fossils offer new insight into a remarkable period more than 2 million years ago.
The evening will include an opportunity to examine casts of hominin fossils and learn how field research, fossil evidence and scientific interpretation help reconstruct the human past. No anthropology background is required.
This keynote presentation is part of AVC’s 15th Annual Anthropology Open House. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
