Antelope Valley College biology professor Joshua Shipp will present “The End of the World, Part 4: Species Extinctions,” a public talk exploring the causes and far-reaching effects of species extinction.
Why are species going extinct, and what happens when they disappear? Shipp will examine major causes of extinction around the world and discuss how the loss of species can affect ecosystems and humans through the interdependence of life.
The talk will also explore humanity’s relationship with the natural world, including the philosophy of treating land, water and other species as resources for human use.
The event is open to AVC students, employees and community members. Attendees may participate in person or online via Zoom.
Faculty may register through the Vision Resource Center. No registration is required for other attendees.
