I began teaching at AVC at the beginning of 2014.

I received my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Antelope Valley College in May of 2008. BA in English in 2010. I received my Masters of Arts in English Literature from California State University Northridge in May of 2013.
academic interests, general teaching areas
While in school my main area of study was literature and visual arts, specifically studying identity formation in comics, manga, and adolescent literature. I have also worked with film and studied the use of space in children's picture books. Pretty much anything incorporating both the written word and visuals is my jam!
My general teaching areas are freshman composition and introduction to college writing.

“Reflections of You: Breaking the Paradigms of Identity Formation in Gilbert Hernandez’s Palomar”—Presented at the 698D English Graduate Project Conference, Paradigms: Redefined & Redesigned, in May of 2013
Special Project: I am currently revisiting and expanding a paper written during my undergraduate work that examines the use and representation of space in Crockett Johnson’s children’s picture books, Harold and the Purple Crayon and Magic Beach.
My main interest in these two stories will be charting where and how the visuals actually change the course of the story for the protagonists.
